Record of Kochia seeds 🌱 growing into brooms 🧹 (1)

Gardening

If it gets too cold after sowing, it won't germinate. Cover the soil very lightly.

(The planting times and growth vary by year, so the dates in the following growth records may appear out of order.)
While seeds sown may not germinate some years due to the cold, fallen seeds are sure to sprout.

Kochia roots are taproots. If this root, which is longer than the main body, breaks, it will not grow 😱 ← Important point!
When repotting, it's better to do it when the soil is dry to avoid damaging the roots. If the soil is dense, carefully loosen it with a trowel and shake off some of the dirt. If the roots don't break, it's okay.

Gently place the seedling into the pot, which has been pre-moistened and had a hole opened in it.
It's better to transplant into smaller pots and then into the ground rather than planting directly into a large pot.
If you're thinning, it's better to cut at the base rather than pull, as it won't damage the other roots.

It has grown quite a bit since I planted the seeds.
It is almost time to raise the pot.

Tips for potting up seedlings💡
Kochia have taproots, so they won't grow if the roots are cut. Therefore, transplant them into pots when the soil is on the drier side.
Thoroughly moisten the soil and gently place the kochia into the hole you made.
